Our Firm’s Response to COVID-19
The mission of Shepherd Elder Law Group, LLC is to be an aide and advocate in helping the aging and special needs communities – both during peaceful times as well as times of great challenge. During this time of heightened awareness and concern with the COVID-19 pandemic, our firm’s primary objective is the health and well-being of our clients and employees. In light of this, we want to provide you with some critical information.
Shepherd Elder Law Group’s offices in Overland Park, which includes the Kansas City metro, and Hutchinson will remain open during our regular business hours, and we are taking extra precautions as we follow best practices and guidance from healthcare professionals for infection control.
Accordingly, we are asking employees with any known illness or possible exposure to refrain from coming to work. We would also request that you contact us to reschedule an appointment if you are ill, experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or believe that you have been exposed.
If you need assistance and are concerned about unnecessary public exposure, we would like to inform you of several new options that are available and to offer flexibility when possible. Additionally, we are adopting several short-term policies in light of the serious situation facing us in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19.
- Telephone conferences and/or video conferences will be available for all office visits.
- In-person meetings, where necessary, will be arranged while maintaining social distancing and PPE guidelines.
- While we love being hospitable and, especially, hugging many of our clients, we will temporarily refrain from offering any refreshments such as water or coffee and will remove any reading materials from our reception areas to minimize surface exposures. We also will be refraining from any physical contact, but you can still expect our warm smiles.
- We realize that many of our clients and their families find themselves in a crisis situation. If you are experiencing such, please let us know, and we will work with you to come up with a flexible plan of action in order to assist you as best as possible.
The attorneys and staff at SELG remain committed to serving the aging and special needs communities in Kansas and Missouri. We are making every effort to safeguard your health and well-being while continuing to be an essential resource for your immediate and long-term legal needs.
